About WCB

Originally set up in 1997 Worcester City Brass provides the many talented young brass players in Worcester and the surrounding area the opportunity to meet and make music. WCB earned an enviable reputation both locally and nationally when the Youth Band performed at the British Open Brass Band Championships Gala Concert at Symphony Hall, Birmingham and the Junior Band performed at the National Youth Brass Band Championships.

​For a number of years WCB was mothballed whilst the musicians and musical director took a change of musical direction. Worcester City Brass reformed again in the summer of 2015. In the same year, the Youth Band featured in a documentary on Sir Edward Elgar for German National Television.

In 2018, members of the Youth Band embarked on a 8 day tour in West Lafayette, Indiana. The touring band performed at the North American Brass Band Association in Fort Wayne prior to the results ceremony. The band are pleased to announce they will be returning to America in July 2023 where they will be re-visiting West Lafayette on a 8 day tour.

We currently have 2 brass bands at Worcester City Brass. Our Training Band rehearse on a Wednesday evening (5:45 - 6:45) during term time and our Youth Band rehearse on a Wednesday evening (7 - 8:45) during term time.
